By default, PrestaShop does not allow you to limit the number of products your customers can order on your store.
However, there are many cases where limiting the quantity of products can be very useful.
For example, if you offer a flash sale, and you want a maximum of your customers to benefit from it.
Or when orders with only one product are not profitable, because the shipping costs are too high.
Or simply to avoid complaints from your customers who buy several products by mistake.
PrestaShop does not allow you to force your customers to order specific quantities of your products.
For example, if you sell bottles in batches of 6, there is nothing in PrestaShop to manage this situation efficiently.
The limit quantity module is there to solve all these problems!
With the limit quantity module, you can indicate for each product the maximum quantity your customers are allowed to add to the cart and purchase.
This is very practical if you want as many of your customers as possible to benefit from a product that is in very limited supply.
This is what Carrefour.fr did when they had a few dozen PlayStation 5s to sell while they were sold out everywhere else.
It is a simple and effective way to satisfy as many customers as possible.
You can also define limitations for each variation of your products.
If you sell a dress in 3 colors, then you can decide that :
And if you want to apply a single rule to all the variations of a product, it's also possible, and it's done very simply in 2 clicks.
PrestaShop does not provide a system to sell products by multiple quantities.
If, for example, you can only ship your bottles of wine in batches of 6 or 9.
The only solution is to create variations for each batch, and the management of your stock becomes an ordeal.
Because when your customer buys a batch of 6 bottles, PrestaShop considers that only one reference has been sold.
It then decrements your stock by 1 instead of 6.
With the limit quantity module, you can specify that a product can only be sold in multiples.
If you specify a multiple of 6, then your customers will only be able to buy 6 or 12 or 18, etc. of your product.
And your stock will be correctly decremented, because for PrestaShop it is 6 or 12 or 18, etc., products that have been sold.
You can also decide to sell only a fixed number of products, no more, no less.
If, for example, you want to sell your products in batches of 5 (but do not allow 10, 15, etc.) there too, it is possible with our module.
The module also allows you to add quantity restrictions to the cart.
For example, you can impose that a minimum number of products must be present in the shopping cart to place an order.
This prevents you from having too low orders with shipping costs that are too expensive.
You can also limit the maximum number of products.
And you can choose to make these settings either based on quantities or by counting only different products (and ignoring the quantities per product).
Again, you will have maximum freedom to filter out orders that are not profitable for you.
Last but not least, in addition to defining maximum quantities per product and per variation, you can do exactly the same with minimum quantities.
